KEA – Safety Training

ECS has provided health and safety training for KEA since 2011, reducing the worker injury rate by 80% for this member owed co-op. Operations are conducted in Port Lions, Terror Lake, and several locations in Kodiak proper including six wind turbines, two fly wheels, power generation buildings, and a hydro-electric facility.
Site Investigation/Soil Remediation – Environmental

An unknown fuel spill was discovered at the Salvation Army. ECS evacuated the site, removed asphalt around the spill, and super sacked the fuel impacted soil. A third party contractor provided the environmental services needed to screen and dispose of the impacted soil.
Building 600 – Asbestos Abatement

Abated 65,000 ft² of asbestos flooring and mastic from a previously occupied barracks facility. Mobilized a crew to the end of the Aleutians for a duration of nearly three months.
Coast Guard Base Housing Re-roofing – Civil Construction

ECS is currently providing professional services for project superintendent, site safety and health officer, and contractor quality management services to CCI Group LLC for a Coast Guard Base housing re-roofing project. ECS is providing personnel for day to day management of construction activities including management of sub-contractors, coordination of quality control inspections, and serving as the liaison between the client and the government. The project consists of six, two-story housing complexes, five, single-story duplexes and multiple storage buildings. The duration of the project is approximately two months from mobilization to completion. The magnitude of this project is <$1M.
Midtown Auto – OSHA Safety Audit

Midtown Auto, one of the premier automotive repair businesses in Kodiak, takes employee safety very seriously. ECS was contracted to perform an OSHA based safety audit that included: noise exposure monitoring, chemical inventory and hazard communication training. Employees were dynamically involved in the development of the safety program to guarantee their ownership in the safety program.
Wells Fargo – Biohazard Cleaning

ECS carried out cleaning operations at one of the Wells Fargo Bank buildings which were classified as biohazards. This biohazard was an emergency response and ECS personnel was able to respond within 2-hours of notification. The cleanup was conducted in a manner that did not impact customers or disrupt normal bank operations.

Filipino Bible Chapel – Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessment

A Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessment was conducted for commercial purposes. The investigation included historical uses of the property, identification of nearby hazards, potential hazards in the area as well as a site walk to identify any problematic areas on the property.
USFWS Remote Property – Hazardous Materials Assessment

ECS mobilized in a DHC-2 De-Havilland Beaver to do a hazardous materials survey in anticipation of building demolition and site clearing. The investigation included assessing several small buildings, sampling of homogenous areas for potential asbestos containing materials, testing for lead-based paints, conducting a hazardous materials inventory and identifying means and methods of demolition for contracting purposes.
